Committed to Our Community

When I talk about a commitment to our community, I mean taking active steps to improve lives, whether involving clients or not. In some cases, that includes serving in public and civic organizations. For example, in 1999, I joined the Board of Directors of S.T.A.G.E. (www.stage-online.com). Since 2004, I have served as the President of the Board of Directors. In that time, S.T.A.G.E. successfully navigated its most difficult economic period, launched a children's summer program, and continued to develop and re-develop to face the changing needs of the performing arts industry.

Other times, my commitment to the community can be seen in service to various Bar organizations. I have served on the State Bar of Texas Continuing Education Committee since 2010, and served on various committees for the Dallas Bar Association and the J.L. Turner Legal Association. I also continue to serve the Bar at large through CLE programs, including programs for the State Bar of Texas, Dallas Bar Association, Collin County Bar Association, J.L. Turner Legal Association, Dallas Association of Young Lawyers, and other local Bar Associations from El Paso to Houston and many points in between.

Finally, through public speaking events, I am able to help the public learn more about their legal rights and obligations and have the opportunity to become more educated legal consumers. I truly believe that better consumers of legal services ultimately will yield better lawyers. With that in mind, I have spoken to groups such as local Rotary Clubs, presented at colleges and universities, and conducted industry-specific programs for professional organizations, as well as hosted events open to the public.

Each of these efforts serves the public interest and furthers my ongoing commitment to the community. A lawyer's time is his most valuable asset; how I spend my time is evidence that I remain...
