Mike began his legal career as a Labor & Employment lawyer at Winstead P.C. in 1998. As part of his practice, Mike regularly handled discrimination, harassment, and retaliation lawsuits, non-compete and trade secret disputes, and employment contracts. Additionally, Mike's practice included immigration matters, including employee, entrepreneur, and family applications.

In 2004, Mike established his own practice, and The Coles Firm P.C. was born. Since 2004, Mike has assisted corporate clients with employment-related matters, corporate formation, mergers and acquisitions, fiduciary duty claims, adversary proceedings in bankruptcy courts, and other business matters. Mike also continues to represent companies and individuals in immigration matters, working with clients in Texas, across the U.S., and in various foreign countries.

In 2007, Mike became a certified mediator. Mike now serves as a court-appointed mediator for various courts in Dallas County. Mike's diverse background, including representing individuals and companies, gives him the unique ability to speak candidly to parties and counsel on both sides of a dispute, with the knowledge that Mike has walked many miles in their respective shoes.
